Hi, I'm Jim, A Wedding and Event Photographer
I've been a photographer in South Wales for more than 40 years, and I'm still just as passionate about photography as I was when I first picked up a camera.
Over those four decades, I've photographed all sorts of people and situations, but what I enjoy most has always been the same thing — capturing genuine moments and the connections between people.
These days, my work is focused mainly on weddings and events, with a particular passion for relaxed, natural wedding photography.
I'm not the sort of photographer who wants to take over your wedding day. I prefer to blend in, get to know you and your guests, and let things happen naturally.
I'll give you a little direction when it's helpful, but most of the time I'll be looking for those moments that happen when nobody is thinking about the camera.
For me, the best photographs aren't necessarily the perfectly posed ones. They're the photographs that bring back how you actually felt.

A Relaxed Approach to Your Wedding Day
I believe your wedding day should be about enjoying yourselves, not spending hours posing for photographs.
My approach is simple: I'll be there when the important moments happen, but I won't constantly be asking you to stop what you're doing and look at the camera.
I'll quietly photograph the laughter, the hugs, the nerves, the tears and all those little moments between you, your family and your friends that you may not even notice at the time.
When you'd like some photographs of the two of you, I'll give you gentle direction rather than putting you through a series of complicated poses. The aim is for you to feel comfortable, look like yourselves and actually enjoy those few minutes together.
You won't spend your wedding day having your photograph taken. You'll spend it enjoying your wedding — and I'll photograph it as it happens.

That experience has taught me something particularly valuable when photographing weddings: you can't predict genuine moments. You have to be ready for them.
Knowing where to be, when to move and, just as importantly, when to stay out of the way comes with experience. It's one of the reasons I can photograph a wedding calmly and unobtrusively while still capturing the moments that matter.
I'm proud to have been recognised throughout my career, but the greatest reward is still hearing from couples who tell me that their photographs brought back the feelings of their wedding day.

More Than Just the Photographer
When I'm not photographing weddings, I'm still usually thinking about photography. I love looking for interesting light, experimenting with black and white images and finding photographs in everyday situations.
I'm also a firm believer that being a good wedding photographer isn't just about knowing your camera. It's about being approachable, calm and able to put people at ease.
After all, you're inviting me into one of the most personal days of your life. I think you should actually like having me there.

Why I Still Love Photography After 40 Years
After more than 40 years behind a camera, you might think I'd have had enough by now.
The truth is, I still get a buzz from capturing a photograph that I know will mean something to someone.
Weddings are particularly special because I'm not simply photographing what happened — I'm preserving how it felt.
A nervous glance before the ceremony. A parent trying not to cry. The laughter between friends. A quiet moment between the newlyweds when they think nobody is watching.
Those are the photographs I love most.
They aren't always the photographs you'd plan. They happen naturally, and you have to be ready when they do.
That's what keeps me picking up the camera. And after 40 years, I still wouldn't want to be doing anything else.
