Booking a wedding photographer

With the large number of photographers available on the Internet, you will need to do your homework to find the photographer you want.

Booking a Wedding Photographer

It is essential to have a photographer that is flexible with your needs. You may want pictures taken in the morning and others in the evening. A good photographer will be able to accommodate these needs. When choosing a photographer, ask for references. Check their work and get a sense of their style. You want to know how the photographer will capture your special day.

How to Choose a Photographer?

Choosing your photographer may be the most critical question to ask yourself. What is your goal? Do you want to have a portrait or wedding photographer? Do you want a documentary photojournalist? Do you want a traditional photographer?

Each photographer has a unique style. The best way to determine which kind is best for you is to browse their portfolio, and you can also find them on their websites.

Accordingly, you should know what kind of photographer you want before beginning your search. Here are some questions to ask yourself:

1. Do you even want a wedding photographer?

If you are planning a wedding, you want a photographer who specialises in weddings. You want a wedding photographer who will work with you to capture the essence of your wedding day. No amount of photographic equipment your uncle owns will replace the skills and experience of a professional wedding photographer.

2. Do you want a documentary photojournalist?

If you want to create a portfolio of your wedding, you want a documentary photojournalist style. This type of photographer will take the most pictures of your wedding and put them in a portfolio that you can use to create your wedding album.

Don’t ask friends to recommend their photographer either. They may have been happy with the photographer they worked with, but that doesn’t mean they would suit you. Would you copy her dress, cake, colour scheme etc? No, of course, you wouldn’t. You get the picture (no pun intended). Booking a wedding photographer is about what you want.

3. Look at the styles of photographs. Do you like posed? Or prefer the candid style. A mix of both? Yes, photographers have different styles they like to photograph. Look up on the internet - traditional Photographers or journalistic photographers. These two will give you a starting point.

I get a lot of bookings from brides who have never met me before the big day. But they will always check out reviews, phone, and ask questions. Some often speak with me via FaceTime. And, of course, we will keep in touch via email or texts before the big day.

4. How do you choose?

I would advise you do at least the following to satisfy yourself that you have shortlisted a suitable photographer that you want.

· Always read the online reviews carefully. Do they feel genuine to you? Can they be verified

· Speak to the photographer. Ask them questions.

· Are they qualified to provide this service? Can you see the qualifications?

· What training have they had to photograph your wedding?

· How many weddings have they photographed?

· Can the photographer supply a copy of their insurance? Most venues now insist on a copy of the photographer’s insurance

· Make sure you are comfortable with the style of photography.

· Above all, go with your instinct. If the price is too good to be true- it often is.

5. You can decide if you want to hire a photographer.

Eyes2Me Photography offer the following reassurance for wedding couples looking to book a wedding photographer

My Guarantee To You When you go to the trouble to arrange your wedding, you want the confidence that even if something was to go wrong with the photography (and don't worry, it never has!), you wouldn't have lost everything. That's why I prepare twice.

Guaranteed Peace of Mind Here is how I ensure that, no matter what, your day is secure. I always bring two lots of everything. Two cameras, two lots of cards, two lights, spare lenses, batteries, chargers, everything. I'm part of an 'inner circle of photographers in which we help each other out in case someone is sick or has an emergency, or some equipment fails. My cameras let me capture photos onto two different memory cards. If one fails, there's a backup with no loss of quality. All photos after it's shot are backed up 3x in an automatic process.
