- New House Country Hotel Caerphilly
If you love the countryside, then you will be inspired by this New House Country Hotel Wedding New House Country Hotel - Cardiff is set in landscaped gardens; this elegant hotel is in an 18th-century manor house and is about 3 miles from the medieval Caerphilly Castle and about 6 miles from the Principality Stadium sports and music venue in Cardiff. Easy to get to and loads of parking space. Emma and Matt were married in a beautiful ceremony at New House Country Hotel in Caerphilly, South Wales. It was a stunning wedding, with so much colour everywhere and lots of cheery banter to keep guests entertained. They had a relaxed ceremony with their friends as guests. It was a hot September day in 2021. The bride looked stunning in her lovely white dress. We arranged to capture some bridal preparations shots on the day. Emma was staying at the country house Hotel. The Preparations were carried out with the help of a makeup artist and hairstylist. Her friends and bridesmaids helped with the coffee and beverages that were much needed. Groom and groomsmen wore matching suits that complimented the wedding day. Not a lot to say about them. Ok. They looked smart. The ceremony occurred at 12:30 in the beautiful marquee room with lovely views of the south-facing fields. The marquee is a lovely light and roomy. With exceptional views over the countryside looking towards Cardiff. The ceremony included several beautiful readings from friends and family. It was a gorgeous occasion, full of happiness. Certainly, they could not have asked for a better wedding day. The registrar was lovely and allowed me to capture the ceremony from different angles during the ceremony. I took some close-up photos of the ring exchanges too. Some registrars have had bad experiences with amateur photographers flashing lights on their faces during the ceremony. So understandingly, they can be cautious with photographers. After the ceremony, guests mingled in the garden, which was relaxed, and I got some stunning photos outdoors. The weather at this New House Country Hotel wedding was so sunny; it was a beautiful day. The bride arranged for a horse to arrive so she could have some photographs taken with it. I'm not usually a fan of horses, but this horse was lovely and gentle, allowing me all the time I needed for the photographs and not agitating me. Animals don't usually like having cameras pointed at them. Most people don’t either, so it’s easy to understand. Although “most” people don’t try and bite or kick me. Thankfully none of this happened on this day, Guests were then called for the wedding breakfast, which was a lovely meal in the gorgeous marquee – delicious. The bride kindly arranged a meal for me to say how lovely the meals were. The speeches given were funny, emotional, and heartfelt. The groom’s brother stole the show with interesting comments about his brother. All taken in the spirit it was meant and was met with lots of laughter. The DJ played all the best songs to get everyone dancing. The evening ended with a ‘last dance, which was incredible, and everyone had a great time. The whole New House Country Hotel wedding was so laid back, from the bride’s awesome dress to the last dance. Review left for me: “Absolutely brilliant We couldn’t recommend Jim enough. He was so friendly and relaxed and made us and our guests feel totally at ease. He captured every special moment, and the quality of the photographs is brilliant. Jim presented our pictures in a beautiful box and even added a personalised touch, which meant so much. Would recommend him to anyone looking for a photographer who captures memories x.” I loved this New House Country Hotel wedding so much. If you’re getting married and looking for a wedding photographer, get in touch. I take my time and enjoy working with couples, their families and friends whom I know will appreciate the wedding images I produce. I like to think I capture the day in a way that you and your loved ones will cherish forever. Here is Emma and Matt’s story in photos. - The Wedding of Jodie and Rob at the lovely Canada Lodge and Lake Cardiff during a sunny August in 20
It was my pleasure to be invited to capture the wedding of Jodie and Rob at the lovely Canada Lodge and Lake in Cardiff in August 2018. There is also accommodation at this venue utilised by the Happy Couple and some close family. Again it was top-class. The weather was kind to us all day, with no rain in sight. Which further enhanced what was a magical day for the Happy Couple and all who attended the wedding. Both Jodie and Rob were Keen to have images that reflected the day. I'm a photojournalist style of photographer, and this was discussed before the special day. Jodie also wanted some family shots and a group shot. We did this with minimal disruption to the wedding party. No wedding photograph lists. No big lights or shouting instructions for poses. Just natural light and a single camera light were used during the wedding. We started at around 11:30 am when the bridal party arrived and checked into a beautiful lodge overlooking the lake. Shortly after, the groom and his party arrived and checked into their accommodation. Out came the beer cans to calm the nerves. Though the groom stuck to soft drinks until after the ceremony. Some images of the day include the priceless reaction of the bride and groom during the ceremony. "Can't thank Jim enough for the fab job he did at our wedding. The photos are outstanding. Would highly recommend Jim to all future couples getting to married". Thank you so much x. Jodie & Rob (31 Aug 2018) #CanadaLodgeandLake #Photo

- How much does a wedding photographer cost
How much does a wedding photographer cost? It's a fact that weddings are expensive. Apart from your house and car purchase, the most expensive thing you could ever pay for is your wedding day. While a decline across the photography industry is predicted in the short term due to COVID-19, there is enormous market potential now that vaccines have become more widely available worldwide. Events have started to resume, and nations are striving to regain normality as soon as possible. Hitched did a wedding survey of 2,800 couples in 2019 and found the average wedding price in the UK is £31,974. 2018 was only slightly cheaper. The professional photography services industry was crushed by government restrictions on gatherings such as weddings and other events during covid19. As a rule, you should not be paying any more than 10% of your total wedding costs (excluding the honeymoon). So, for roughly £3,000, you should see a few professional photographers in the price range. Then the fierce competition starts to get your wedding booking. Free album, Free engagement shoot, Free Car, Free holiday if you book in the next several days. You get the picture. Bridebook UK (2022) reports that the average cost of a professional photographer booked for 2022 is £1,200. With 91% of wedding couples opting for a professional photographer over friends or family taking the photographs. As a photographer, I want to be sure you are choosing me for the right reasons. Let’s face it, we’re in this for the money, But that’s not what I want to be known to my clients for. My wedding prices are very reasonable for the skills and service I provide. Based on several weddings a year, each wedding I photograph will cost me £300 before I start. As a wedding photographer, I am not a photographer who jumps in at the deep end and gives you a great package for free. No. I give you great service at a reasonable price that we can both appreciate. My top wedding package costs are very reasonable, often including a beautiful USB and a private online gallery of your wedding photos. Yes, it is possible to get a photographer for less than £500. The problem is that you get what you pay for. A wedding photographer is not the same as a regular photographer. I don't photograph pets or babies, etc. That's another skill all on its own. Absolutely brilliant We couldn’t recommend Jim enough. He was so friendly and relaxed and made us and our guests feel totally at ease. He captured every special moment, and the quality of the photographs was brilliant. Jim presented our pictures in a beautiful box and even added a personalised touch, which meant so much. Would recommend to anyone looking for a photographer who captures memories. To me, wedding photography is a specialisation. There are no other professionals that can cover every aspect of the day as a wedding photographer. Undeniably, I have unique skills. But I also have to say that there is a limit to what I can do. I can’t take a million pictures of your day, and I can’t even be everywhere at once. My style is unique, and people who hire me know that. As a wedding photographer, I do my best to ensure that your wedding day is a special one. Your Wedding Photos Will Be Better Than Your Friends or family taking your photographs. In my experience, I've photographed hundreds of weddings, and I can tell you for sure that my work is better than your friends' or families' photography work. With over 200 weddings photographed, I'm good at what I do. Photography is my passion. It's what I love. I get paid to do it, but I do it because I love it. I don't just take pictures of pretty people. I take pictures of real people doing real things. I take pictures of you and your family enjoying themselves on your big day. Furthermore, I take pictures of your wedding party in their most acceptable attire and help them look their best. I know what it takes to make photographing your wedding a success, and I also know what it takes to get the best photos. That's why I ensure that you, the bride, have a photographer who knows what it takes to bring you the best images possible. I am a wedding photographer who is more than a photographer, I'm a Master Photographer. Now let's look at booking a wedding photographer
- Weddings at City Hall Cardiff
I photographed the lovely wedding of Sophie and Dale on Saturday 20th August 2022 at Cardiff City Hall. I arrived by train and met the couple at the City Hall Cardiff as we had arranged a few weeks earlier. The wedding ceremony was in the main room inside the City Hall Cardiff. The bride wore a white dress with a beautiful bouquet. The bride looked stunning in her white dress. The room was full of family and guests, all relaxed to enjoy the day. We later went to the nearby park for some photographs. The family enjoyed the lovely weather with a picnic while entertained by a magician they hired. The couple were both from Cardiff, hence, why they chose to have their wedding at the City Hall. They also added that they had been looking for someone to photograph their wedding. The wedding was perfect. We could enjoy a pleasant time with the family and friends before going to the nearby park for some photos. The couple told me they wanted an informal style of wedding photography with natural photos that would be easy on their budget. They said that they wanted the wedding photography to be simple but very clear. I was hired only to cover the ceremony and an hour in the park. The most important thing about wedding photography is capturing the love between the couple and the moment of the day. The photos must be clear with the attention to detail. You must ensure that the bride and groom look good and the venue looks great too. There is a lot to think about, but I was delighted with the day's outcome. The couple looked happy and beautiful as they enjoyed their wedding. They had a lot of fun during the session. I really enjoyed being there, and I am happy to share with you some of my photos. I hope you like them. Destination: Cardiff Venue: City Hall Cardiff Setting: Outdoor wedding Celebrations
- Planning your wedding day
Planning Your Wedding day Congratulations on your engagement and welcome to the exciting world of wedding planning! According to internet experts, the average wedding costs during 2019 was a staggering, eye-watering, astonishing £31,974. See my other blog post on costs. Weddings remain incredibly rare occasions, and as such, you'll naturally want yours to be as perfect and memorable as possible! Most couples will start to plan their wedding about a year before the date. However, this is becoming more and more difficult with most venue's and professional services such as the photographer, are now booked up to 24 months in advance, especially during summer months. Are you planning a summer wedding? British summertime begins on the last Sunday of March and ends the last Sunday of October. If you're planning a summer wedding on Saturday, this will give you a window during 2021 of only 14 Saturday to choose. Are you planning a July or August wedding? Then this will give you a choice of only nine dates to choose. Why did I choose the year 2021 instead of 2020? It's unlikely you will get your preferred venue and services providers such as your selected photographers, cars, DJ and Bands etc. For example, I'm fully booked for July and August this year (2020) and already have confirmed booking for the summer of 2021. So essentially, you need to start making them bookings as soon as possible. And don't hang about parting with the deposits. The majority of suppliers and venues will not make a reservation unless a deposit is paid to them. If you've started to plan or consider your wedding, you may have already developed some ideas and inspiration, but with so much work and planning is often involved. Yes, you can hire a wedding planner, but that's another expense you will need to factor in. There are several web sites and planning apps that can help take some of the pressure of you to arrange this magical day that you have planned in your mind's eye. The key to a smooth-running wedding day is in the planning. You don't have to go overboard with it, but get the basics sorted and it will be a big help. Keep it simple? Set yourself a realistic budget for your wedding Draw up a guest list Appoint bridesmaids / Best Man Book your venue (based on the number of guests) Book your photographer and other suppliers Take out wedding insurance. It's a small price for your peace of mind. Decide on the dress and bridesmaids outfits Order your invitations Order wedding cake Book your make-up artist and hairstylist Congratulations. You have made a start on planning your wedding.
- Wedding Photographer at Cottrell park, St Nicholas in the Vale of Glamorgan
Kath Whatley married Timothy Keeble on 8th August 2018 at the lovely Cottrell Park Cardiff in the Vale of Glamorgan. Colour scheme of the day was a lovely Blush pink /Sage Green with a hint of champagne, vintage and natural. Kath and Tim met three years ago at the ice rink. Kath went to learn to skate. Tim is a coach there. They became friends first and got on so well things just clicked. Ten months later in October 2016 Tim proposed. He chose the ring without her knowing. he proposed at a starbuck whare they had thier first date. He arranged fir the same music, coffee and parking space. While he distracted Kath he pulled out the ring and proposed. I asked Kath what was it that attracted you to choose this wedding venue. "We had been to see a few and all were underwhelming, we wanted quite a relaxed but beautiful venue, an excellent background for pictures that was big enough for our guests to be comfortable, all at a reasonable price". They both decided that Cottrell park Cardiff was that place for them. "From the first meeting, the staff were lovely, friendly and helpful. We were able to customise the wedding package to suit us, and the place was just beautiful and picturesque". Kath said that they wanted to add a personal touch within thier day, and so most of the special touches were handmade. Favours: These were a mixture of personalised sweets, and each guest had a log chip with their name on to take that doubled as a place name. I made activity packs for the children with their names made out of crayon cubes. Guests also had a personalise wooden pencil with our names and the date on. Table plan: Tim and I made this himself as a project from an old pallet. Fitted in wth the theme of rustic, vintage very well. Centrepieces: Kath decorated mason jars herself and painted mini easels to put handmaid table numbers on. Made from wood chips, A good friend of Kaths Sarah Davies, sourced the cake stands and the log slices for the table centres Flowers: Cottage Garden Florist. Gordon supplied all of our flowers, fresh, bridesmaid and bride bouquets, buttonholes, table settings and registrar table arrangement, Cake: Kaths beautiful friend Lucy Deacon made her wedding cake as a wedding gift, and it was utterly stunning. Place names: As mentioned these were wood chips (supplied by another beautiful friend Sarah Davies) that Kath burned peoples names into. Table names: They had numbers written in chalk pen onto wood chips. Venue décor. Kath sprinkled petals down the aisle and had bay trees at the top of the aisle. Kaths younger sister painted her a tree on canvas that was thier guestbook-everyone added a fingerprint to the tree. Kath also made the rustic card box out of an old picnic basket. Kaths mum Julie also worked very hard on providing all the sweets for thier sweet table. Transport: Another good friend David Brake provided them with a beautiful wedding car as a gift for the day. One of Kaths favourite moments was going for a ride after the ceremony, just the two of them Catering options: Spiros Caterers provided the wedding food and a lot of the guests commented: "best food they've had at a wedding". "The harpist for our ceremony was a huge hit, very relaxing and a nice touch to our ceremony and drinks reception:. Looking the part Kath wore a Mori Lee 1903 dress in champagne with Handmaid jewellery (bracelet, necklace, earrings).Veil- Cathedral length with lace detailing by the same designer as the dress Groom and Groomsmen all matched exactly – very smart! The three bridesmaids in sage green and three in blush pink. All wore a chiffon sweetheart full-length dress with a corset back -straps added. The two flower girls matched the bride in an ivory/champagne style dress with lace top. Memorable moments •How did you both feel on the day? Calm and excited and happy •What parts stood out for you the most? The time just me and Tim had in the car after the ceremony, looking back I remember sitting on the top table just looking at everyone and I remember thinking all these people are here cos we love them, and this will never happen again- how awesome is this. •Any funny stories or memorable anecdotes from the day. I forgot my wedding dress the day before, and Alison and Danni had to go and get it for me. •Who/what made your day extra special? E.g., a friend's speech/ supplier that went above and beyond? All the friends that helped us. Sarah Davies, Lucy Deacon, Michelle and David Brake. My best friend Danni Hier who made sure it was about me and her speech made me cry... supplier who went above and beyond to make me feel good would have to be Leanne who did my makeup- she was a star both before and on the day. Honeymoon "We went to Rivera Maya in Mexico for just over 2 weeks, Tim planned it, and it was bliss. We went only a few days after the wedding, and it was so lovely just to have that time together. Amazing"! Wedding Tip "Don't stress the small stuff, it doesn't matter in the end– take a moment to make it all in". - Wedding photographer Cardiff
Who is Eyes2Me Photography Hello, I’m James Matthews, the owner of Eyes2Me Photography Limited. Wedding Photographer Cardiff. Covering south wales and bourder counties. At about ten years of age and with much persuasion, I finally got a Russian made 35mm camera with a small zoom lens from my father. I think he swapped some pigeons for it. Unlike most other photographers who got the photography bug from their parents or grandparents, my family were never into photography and couldn’t understand why I wanted a camera. I became the one with a "good camera". Photographing many family occasions along the way. School trips were always captured. I especially liked the lions of Longleat. My school girlfriend (now my wife) was my model at the time. My first wedding photographs were taken at ten years of age. Skipping ahead to my adult years, and with some encouragement from family and friends, I formed Eyes2Me Photography. The name Eyes2Me was inspired by a local tyre sales company I saw on the way home from booking a wedding in Cardiff. Although my first instinct was to go with James Matthews Photography. As most photographers select their name for their business. For a while, I did go with my name but liked Eyes2Me Photography better. I took part in an intensive wedding photography course. It was an excellent and informative course. However, the traditional posed images were not something I enjoyed photographing. I like the natural unposed photos of people. I thought what’s the point in shooting something I don’t enjoy doing. I like the natural images of people. Capturing the natural expressions of people at weddings and events was the style of photography I enjoy photographing. While undertaking a Diploma in Photography, it was suggested that I keep a file of all the images that I particularly liked or was drawn to. This course of action would help me find a photography style and passion for the type of images I was drawn to. The dominant style I use is called photojournalism. Or Documentary. Considered as a curious photographer, I often find myself shooting scenes where they capture something unexpected. To outsiders, Photo-Journalists seem to be the most daring and fast-paced of all photographers as they will regularly put themselves in uncomfortable positions to capture a single photo. But the reality is that Photo-Journalists aren't uncomfortable in awkward situations, they're too busy being excited about the images they're capturing. The thrill of capturing a photo that tells a story that others can't tell is more than enough to motivate a photo-Journalist to act daringly for the perfect shot. I found that I was inspired by many photographers and especially the works of Robert Frank, Don McCullin, Kevin Mullins and Jeff Ascough. However, the work and humour of Elliott Erwitt still inspire some of my images. I have been fortunate to have attended workshops with both Kevin Mullins and Jeff Ascough. Both are highly acclaimed award-winning wedding photographers. I joined a number of photography groups and associations over the years. However, I was drawn to the lure of the coveted title "Master Photographer" and joined the Master Photographers Association. With their mentorship, I was awarded my Licentiate as a Master Photographer in early 2020. Earning the title of "Master Photographer". Below is a copy of the local press release that also appeared in the South Wales Wedding Magazine. . Eyes2Me Photography - PRESS RELEASE James Matthews, from Eyes2Me Photography based in Caerphilly, has just been awarded his Licentiateship of the Master Photographer Association (LMPA) with a stunning panel of Images in the Commercial category, which is James’s speciality. The judges’ comments given to James included words like sheer quality, impact, stunning, outstanding and unique, which explained the strength of the whole panel. Licentiateship of the MPA, is the hardest qualification to achieve within the photographic profession, as this takes a great deal of time, work and dedication to your art to reach this level. Entering the Association at probationary level and reaching the required high standards of this qualification is such a massive achievement. Not only do you have to submit an extensive panel of photographic images, which are displayed and judged in front of 5 highly respected Fellows of the industry, but you also must produce an in depth working profile, about your work and business practises. This document goes into the Health & Safety elements that must be understood when dealing with the public, also have professional insurances that protect the public. This is the reason why the public should only book a qualified professional photographer to photograph those precious memories in life, their wedding, pets or family and children, as it’s the only way they have of knowing they will get the best creative photographs and personal service possible. Trading Standards Approved After a lot of hard work preparing document and interviews I was accepted as the only photographer in Wales to become Trading Standards Approved. In other words "Buy With Confidence" I was surprised how intensive they are before accepting a business into the pre-approved scheme. I had to provide a list of 50 wedding couples that I photographed and they picked 10 at random to provide me with a reference. Volunteering my Photography Services I volunteer my photography services with the Remember My Baby Organisation. Helping parents with the pain of still birth. I also volunteer photographing of families living with a terminal illness, Providing lasting memories for the family. During October 2019 I spent three weeks of my own time photographing Paramedics in India who have also given up their own time to teach first aid to schools that are many miles from hospitals or first aid posts. This event was self-funding and help from some local business with sponsorships. An experience that I hope to repeat in 2022. I have participated in many charities and associations to raise money for good causes. This year (2022) I will be hiking 26 miles from Chepstow to Monmouth to raise money for MacMillan Cancer Support. If you would like to support this cause please donate to my just giving page. All money raised is collected by MacMillan Cancer Support direct from the just giving page. MacMillan Cancer Support https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Jim-26mile

- St Audries Park Wedding
Congratulations to a wonderful couple who married on 12th October at St Audries Park West Quantoxhead, Taunton. St Audries Park is as a breath-taking manor house with 100 acres of deer park in the vale of Somerset. St Audries Park is just beautiful, with a light Orangery for the marriage ceremonies and an impressive banqueting hall for the reception. Staff were great too. The arranged the confetti shoot while walking down the great staircase in the building. The day started with the usual coffee at the bridal preparations. Bride and maids enjoyed some glasses of bubbly. Dan was also staying at the hotel (different room), so I was able to capture some great images of both of them during the preparations. The wedding day went by at the usual fast pace. I attempted to capture as many wedding moments as possible to bring back the happy moments over and over each time the wedding party look at them. Hence, I started the day with a smile and end it with the same. Tears of Joy from the laughing guests enjoying themselves. Roberta and Dan were a Joy to photograph at this beautiful location. Guests were happy and joined in the fun. "It was a great pleasure to have Jim photographing our wedding. He has done an amazing job. He made us and our guest feel very comfortable. He is a lovely man and a photographer. Did a great job at not being noticed and wasn't in the way at all. Stayed longer too which was a great bonus. Also can't believe how quickly he did our photos to such great standard. Would recommend Jim 100% Thank you again!" Wedding Photographer in Cardiff. Cardiff is a lovely city in South Wales and is the capital of Wales with a population of 400,00 million people. Some factoids. Cardiff attracts 2.1 million visitors each year to see the many attractions such as its castle. It's also ranked sixth in the world by National Geographic as a tourist destination, and known as the City of Arcades, with the biggest concentration of Victorian, Edwardian and modern-day indoor shopping arcades in Britain. So there is no wonder why Cardiff is a popular venue for weddings too. There are many beautiful locations in Cardiff to book your wedding day. I have been fortunate to have photograph in some of these beautiful locations with wedding couples who have booked me for the special day. Wedding Photographer at the Village Hotel Cardiff. Capturing bride and Groom moments. And agin in the grounds of Pencoed House Cardiff Fantastic couple to work with. So relaxed and friendly. This was during the cake cutting time at the Angel Hotel Cardiff Again in the beautiful park just outside Cardiff Castle across the road from the Angel Hotel. This time at the lovely Cottrell Park Golf Resort Cardiff. Fun all day well into the evening party. Plenty of lovely grounds to capture the images couples want. Just keep off the grass. Wedding moment at the beautiful Canada Lodge and Lake Cardiff. Boy was it hot on that day. Just outside the main building there is a tree swing that every body wanted a try. Lovely shot of the bride just before kids pushed her off for a turn. Lovely moment of the bride getting ready at Miskin Manor Hotel. I was lucky to capture the groom getting ready too. He was in a room on the second floor. Doesn't happen often but it did make it a lot easier to capture both getting ready. One for the boys at the Vale Hotel Cardiff. The evening was closing in, and the groom wanted a photograph with his friends and best man. Why not. Bride getting ready at the Park Plaza Cardiff. Lovely wedding day for a lovely wedding couple.
